This will probably be the longest journal I will ever write. Yep. BeWaRe

I am not the type of person who likes to write journals. Needer am I the type who likes to talk about her to people she has never met. But I just can't keep it to myself right now. So here it goes


I went to the Otakuthon Convention this weekend with ~Lord-Fluffy-chanand ~Eresqua.

and I don't mean awesome like when you find 20 bucks on the street while you are walking your dog out. I'm talking real stuff here, like when you walk down the street and find a hockey bag full off money.

The only difference between the two situations is that there might be trouble coming up if you choose to take the hockey bag with you...



Erm yeah, never mind that. Shall we start from the beginning?

First, there was the costume.
At the end of the Otakuthon 08, ~Lord-Fluffy-chan send me an e-mail in wich she explain how cool it would be to Cosplay Cross Marian and Maria from D Gray-Man. I accepted without hesitation, even thought I had never read nor watched D Gray-man. And since I didn't really wanted to wear my Gaara-Sexy-No-Jutsu-But-Not-Naked Costume for an other year, it was a great opportunity for me to be an attention whore, and for ~Lord-Fluffy-chan to prove that even though she had never sewed a thing in her life, that she totally can kick your ass.

So, after the e-mail we didn't really talked about it. Until a month before the Otakuthon.
Then it was a real panic to make Maria's costume and Cross's (Yeah you know how it is, artists often seems to be more efficient if they are late on work). But she did well through it all. I still feel a little guilty for not beeing abble to help her much more than I did...

When we finally finished the two costumes and preparations the Friday Morning, j(ust in time for the first day of the convention) we were REALLY excited. That much that we forgot a piece of Maria's Costume, the gloves D:.

One of the funniest part wasn't at the convention itself, but in the subway... Yes, we were wearing our costume in the streets and the subways, and it was damn funny. To people, we were like demons coming out from hell to do some shopping. In Montreal. Most of people would feel ashamed of beeing looked at like this, but with time it seemed that the more people react to your costume, the funniest it is!!

Arrived to the Palais des Congrets, ~Eresqua was waiting for us, wearing a Sakura Card Captor School-girl costume. It didn't suited with our own costumes, but this is why it was so funny. I can only imagine a 12 years old girl hanging around with a playboy general and his dead-weapon-butterfly-thing...




Now, the at Convention itself; We arrived at 6 Pm app. and there was a line up you couldn't even imagine... Even though we had pre-order our inscription, we had to wait an hour or so.As we were just waiting in line, people got excited by our costume and kept asking for pictures. The thing is, we were not even in the convention that people wanted pictures. We were proud of our costume and so we posed, but we could never have known how popular our cotsume would be...



The three whole days we've been harassed for pictures.It was fun in the beginning, but then we found ourselves late at every activity. We couldn't take a step without having people asking for pictures. If it wasn't of the huge dress and the mask I was wearing ( I would have ssooo fell on my face...), we would have run away every day. I had fun taking poses for people and stuff, but we didn't only pay for that. ~Eresqua and ~xweihsinx were getting a little frustrated in the end...

We did a lot of things. We went to see *cocbys at her table in the artist corner. She was in Camus and had made her own costume. She was amasing. We also bumpoed into ~Mollusque a couple of times. She was wearing a Team Fortress blue army suit, and had a Huge Bazooka with her. Even thought it was army I thought she was really cute. ~xweihsinx came the sunday afternoon and sticked with us a time. She didn't needed a costume as she is asian, after all, and so she didn't needed to try to act like and look like one... and she was already looking cute anyway. I met a couple of other people I already knew, and I was suprised by the presence of some off them.

On Saturday, as we arrived at the convention a Staff dude approached us looking excited. He wanted us to be in the Mascarade (It's like a show were you show off your hand-made costumes to the audienc of the Otakuthon). We already thought of doing it, but ~Lord-Fluffy-chan wasn't really sure, as they keep you for most of the day. But we entered anyway.

~Lord-Fluffy-chan told me she would never enter the mascarade again after the show. Why? Well first we weren't prepared at all. We had to dance in front of I-don't-know-how-many-people and we didn't even know how to dance in the begining. The dress and the huge mask wasn't helping much needer...

Second, we were stuck in a room for 6 damn hours without having the right to go out (not really), wich means that we couldn't assist to the other activities during this time.

Third, there wasn't any prizes. You could win, but you don't get anything for those 6 hours. That's not much of a motivation...

But we did it anyway. And we didn't win at any category nor divisions. But I was personnaly pretty proud of what we did. Even though we almost fell on our faces in front of everyone two time during the scene, we did well, and people appreciated us. We also met great people during the sequestration (like ~rocknroler. there was other people but I don't know if they have a DA account) and I hope to see them again next year.


This year was truly the best Otakuthon I had. People were great, sociable, sympathic... And we were all so sad when we realised that it was the end...


So that's it. If you read it all, you certainly are brave.
